This fun, informative and practical visit to The Bee’s Knees Studio takes between 45
minutes and one and a half hours- depending on the age range of the children, the
number of people in the group, and the project you choose.
We tailor the content of the visit to suit your requirements. For most of the visit
everyone will decorate their own piece of ‘bisque’ pottery from your chosen
pottery selection. We provide instruction, and have lots of simple design tools that you
can use. Our paints are water-based and do not stain.
We can also include explanations and demonstrations of:
Pouring a mould
Working with clay at different stages: slip, green ware, bisque
Decorating techniques
We clear glaze and fire your painted pottery; finished items are ready for collection in
a week.
We welcome bookings from non-profit groups of up to 50 people on school days
between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Our group activities are priced according to the pieces you pick out, so you can
custom set your price. It's $4 per painter/per hour plus the cost of your piece.
Pieces start @ $2 for small tiles, letters or numbers- Small animals @$4-7.50-
Bowls start @ $6 and Mugs & plates @ $7.
The price quoted includes one item per person from your chosen selection, use of
studio facilities, instruction, paints, glazing and firing. All Groups must have a minimum of 4 guests. Free Parking is located directly behind the studio for easy access.
